1. Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using Aina Finance ("Aina", "the Service", "we", "our") at ainafinance.com, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of Aina after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. The effective date at the top of this page reflects when the current version took effect.

2. Description of service

Aina is a free, offline-first personal finance Progressive Web App. It allows you to:

• Import and categorize bank and credit card transactions from PDF and CSV statements
• Track assets, liabilities, budgets, and net worth
• Export and back up your data locally or to your own Google Drive account
• Optionally use AI-powered categorization via your own Anthropic API key

All data is stored locally in your browser. Aina has no backend server, no user accounts, and no cloud infrastructure that holds your financial data.

3. Your data and backup responsibility

Because Aina operates entirely within your browser, you are fully responsible for the safety and integrity of your data.

• Browser storage (IndexedDB) can be cleared automatically by the operating system when storage is low, by privacy settings, or by manually clearing browser data.
• Uninstalling the app, resetting your device, or switching browsers will result in data loss unless you have a backup.
• We strongly recommend exporting your database regularly using the built-in export feature or enabling automatic Google Drive backups.

4. No financial advice

Aina is a personal finance tracking tool, not a financial advisory service. Nothing in the application — including charts, projections, budget analysis, or categorization — constitutes financial, investment, tax, or legal advice.

You should not rely on Aina as the sole basis for any financial decision. For advice specific to your situation, consult a qualified financial professional.

5. Third-party services

Anthropic Claude API: If you use the AI-powered import mode, you are using your own Anthropic API key and are subject to Anthropic's Terms of Service. You are responsible for all API usage costs incurred through your key. Aina has no visibility into your API usage or charges.

Google Drive: If you enable Drive backup, your use of Google Drive is subject to Google's Terms of Service. Aina connects to your Drive using OAuth on your behalf, but does not control Google's service availability, pricing, or policies.

Google Fonts: Aina loads fonts from Google Fonts on first use. This is subject to Google's standard usage terms.

6. Acceptable use

Aina is intended for personal, non-commercial finance tracking. You agree not to:

• Use Aina for any unlawful purpose or in violation of applicable law
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or tamper with the application in ways that harm other users
• Use Aina to process financial data belonging to others without their consent
• Redistribute modified versions of Aina that misrepresent the original application or its privacy properties

7. Disclaimer of warranties

Aina is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that:

• The Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of bugs
• Parsed or categorized data will be accurate or complete
• The Service will be compatible with all browsers or devices
• Data stored in your browser will be retained indefinitely

Your use of Aina is entirely at your own risk.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:

• Loss of financial data due to browser storage being cleared or a device reset
• Errors or inaccuracies in transaction parsing, categorization, or calculations
• Financial decisions made based on information displayed in the app
• Costs incurred through your Anthropic or Google API usage
• Any interruption, suspension, or discontinuation of the Service

Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these terms shall not exceed zero dollars ($0), as Aina is a free service with no fees paid by you.

9. Service availability and changes

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue Aina — or any part of it — at any time without notice. Because Aina is offline-first and your data is stored locally, any changes to the hosted application do not affect the data already on your device.

We may update the application to fix bugs, improve performance, or add features. Updates deployed via the service worker may be applied automatically in the background.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under these terms shall be resolved in the courts of California.
